Our new RS232 Converter Board, is a quick and easy solution to adding RS232 communication to your project. The board connects directly to most standard microcontroller UART's to provide simply 2-wire communication.

The board incorporates the industry standard ICL3232 for signal conversion and buffering. Suitable for standard TTL 3V to 5.5V input. This compact and inexpensive board can be used on most control systems.

Features

  • Includes ICL3232 or compatible IC with Capacitors
  • Supports 3V to 5.5V (based on regulated DC voltage supplied to the board)
  • DB9 Female Connector (RS-232)
  • Standard Header Connector (TTL)
  • Suitable for use with most microcontrollers
  • 300 to 115200 bauds
  • Board Dimensions: 32 x 37 mm
  • Pre-assembled board

Version 7 board offers 2 jumpers (J1, J2) to control RTS/CTS signals. You can use the included jumpers to set different configurations. If no jumpers are installed, the RTS/CTS signals are ignored.

I bought 2 of these to connect a pair of TTL interface data radios to PC serial ports. They worked perfectly. The build quality is high. They have the RTS and CTS lines which other boards do not have. I need the CTS line so these work out well. They arrived quickly. I am quite happy and would recommend these to others. Randy K8KWL

At a customers site where I was installing some new equipment, there was a rs232 cable run about 50 feet long. it ran down a wall and through a few cabinets. I did not want to re-run this cable, but I needed to connect the new controller to it which has a TTL input for the 232 data. I needed a rs232 to TTL converter to make my life easier! Well this product worked perfectly, without any hassle at all. Plugged it in and made sure I got the pin out on the TTL side right and it worked. My application uses a 19200 baud data rate and needs to have both the RTS and CTS singles working, this product does it! Most other rs232 to TTL converters (some look just like this one) don't sent the the control singles. When ordering this product make sure you get the correct version, DCE w/ female DB9 (this one) and DTE w/male DB9. I think when hooking a PC to another serial device you will most likely need the DCE version. For $9 get both, you will sleep better! the only thing I would like to see added to this device are TX and RX LED indicators for troubleshooting (however the DTE version does have the LEDs).

Nice compact design, good quality, and it properly supports RTS & CTS unlike most others.
